*Breath in*

why is the heart the symbol of love? Who dedcided that the heart was the organ that should represent emotion. Actually, doesn't emotion come from the brain? It's love, or the emotion of love, just a chemical reaction in the brain? I'm sure it does have something to do with the heart, but mostly it is an action taking place in the brain, isn't it? Now, I can understand that your heart gets all thumpy and beats fast when you're in love, but so what? Does that mean it should represent love? You also starts to breath fast, and smile. Does that meant that the lungs should represent love? Or does that mean that the mouth should represent love? What makes some one says "that was a heart-felt statment?" HEART-felt. But really...was it your heart deciding? No. it was your head...er...Brain decideing that you were going to say and mean whatever it was you said. It probably had very little to do with being felt in the heart.

*Breath out*

Despite what it sounds like, i'm not saying that the notion of the heart being the symbol of love is wrong, and should be done away with, it's just that everyone has heard sayings like "Follow your heart," or " Listen to your heart, not your head." And that just makes me smile because my heart is controlled by my head. All these emotions that we've assigned to our heart are actaully really run by our heads, and there for (and when I say " head" I mean brain) You are really only ever following your head.
